The debut full-length album from Mock Deer is the result of 4 years’ reflection during a period of hiatus for South London singer-songwriter Ricky Damiani. Incorporating previously acclaimed singles Twisted Forms and Your Open Heart, The Art Of Loneliness evidences the time, care and commitment that is required to make relevant and expressive art in a busy world.
The LP was recorded in Bath, UK, with producer Scott Fitzgerald, who produced Mock Deer’s previous EP. The creative partnership had clicked, and both wanted to collaborate on a piece of work with a full-band sound.
“We wanted to make something epic and ambitious that harked back to albums made in the ’70s, with a stronger leaning towards rock and prog than my previous releases. It was a long, challenging task to get it right, and I think that the record’s strength is due to the slow creative process and painstaking attention we paid to detail.”
The record has gathered excellent reviews and earned welcome comparisons to the likes of Love, REM and Fleet Foxes.
