After turning heads across the UK and Europe with their high-energy live shows, New Zealand alt-indie favourites Dateline arrive in London for a special headline show at The Waiting Room.

Formed in Auckland and fronted by Katie Everingham, Dateline have spent the last few years building a reputation for sharp songwriting, driving guitars and emotionally charged live performances. Blending irresistible hooks with wit, warmth and cathartic energy, the band have earned praise from Rolling Stone AUS/NZ, Loud Women and Under The Radar NZ, while steadily growing a devoted international following.

Fresh from touring the UK and Europe alongside The Beths, Dateline return with songs from across their acclaimed catalogue and a live set built for packed rooms and loud singalongs.

Support comes from South London’s Dead Slow Hoot, bringing their own blend of atmospheric indie folk, raw lyricism and slow-burning intensity to open the night.

Born and based in New Zealand, Dateline have been making waves since they launched in 2017. Fronted and founded by Katie Everingham, the band have cultivated a killer combo of irresistible hooks, effortless energy and charismatic lyricism. With two critically acclaimed albums already out in the wild, their impressive sound has not gone unnoticed, earning them praise from the likes of Rolling Stone AUS/NZ, Under The Radar NZ, Loud Women and more.

With live performance at the centre of their artistry, Dateline have built a strong following across New Zealand with each show drawing bigger and busier crowds.

Last year, the band were invited to join beloved fellow Kiwi band The Beths on their 24-date tour across the UK and Europe. This saw Dateline firmly establish themselves as a band to adore, making bold strides towards global recognition.

Dead Slow Hoot started life as the accompanying band to a Sheffield Gospel Choir, playing religious standards and Beatles covers until lead guitarist and singer, Hugo, started writing original material in 2014. Staying true to the singalong structures that drew them to gospel music in the first place, the band has experimented continuously with its output over 8 years – eagerly drawing influence from indie rock, folk, minimalism and electronica combined with poetic lyrics to create a unique sound with shades of Arcade Fire, Interpol, Joanna Newsom and Terry Riley.

Now spread between Sheffield and London, Dead Slow Hoot perform with a revolving lineup of talented musicians making every live show a different experience expressed with gratitude for the ability to perform together after so much time.
