Founded in 2010 at Camberwell College of Arts London, collecting influences from a number of singer/songwriters from the 60’s and 70’s. Using harmonising vocals and a blend of different instruments they create their own mixture of alternative folk.
Whilst playing regularly around London and the rest of the UK including the Smugglers Sessions in Kent they last year released their first EP and completed a two month tour of Holland, Germany and France.
This year they are set to play at a host of small independent festivals and recently performed at The Summer Streets Garden Party on Regent Street for the Mayor of London Gigs in July.
‘Immaculate harmonies and fingerpicking alt folk with a beautifully light touch make for a wonderfully accomplished act. Simon and Garfunkel and CSN&Y’s pristine vocal blend is a definite influence, while the duo’s contemporary indie folk leanings puts their excellent songs in a comfortably contemporary setting.’ – New Roots Promotions
‘Two unique voices that work brilliantly together, great songs! Certainly ones to watch’ – Ridge Radio UK
Christopher Matthewson is an Irish singer-songwriter based in Brighton, and has just released his Debut E.P, Somewhere in Between.
Lir Shilton is a musician based in London, UK. Born and raised in Ashkelon, Israel.
Lir began her interest in music at an early age. When she was 4 years old, attending a family wedding, she was fascinated with the saxophone player and refused to go home. The next day she had found a toy recorder and intuitively began to play all her favourite Disney songs.
At the age of 8 she took piano lessons, and was then accepted to an art-focused elementary school where she experienced music and stage arts.
Lir had taught herself to play the guitar, and by the age of 14, wrote her first song. From that point, she had played with various bands and ensembles in many venues and festivals in Israel.
In 2010 Lir joined the IDF for her mandatory 2 year service serving as part of the official army band where she contributed vocals, guitar and keyboard parts. During her service, she performed for various army and state officials, and had her original song featured on Israel’s most popular radio station, ‘Galgalaz’.
In 2012 Lir had digitally released an EP titled ‘Director’s Cut’.
Later this year, she moved to the UK to pursue her art. She played in many venues such as ‘O2 Academy Islington’, ‘The Water Rats’, ‘Brixton Jamm’ and various radio stations across the UK.
She is currently working on her debut album, alongside John Cornfield (The Verve, Neil Halstead), to be released on MishMish Records.
Lena Laki is an indie-folk singer-songwriter based in London and her Debut EP Take Me With is set to be released in April 2016.
German-born Lena Laki has been playing music and performing live in Germany and in England for the last few years. Doing mainly jazz and folk covers at first, she quickly got to working on her own material and trying out some of her original compositions during her sets. All of the five songs included in this EP have developed over time through various band formations, taking on different arrangements, in some cases even different lyrics. The product of countless daydreams, a few epiphanies and a lot of hard work, Take Me With is testament to Lena’s musical talent as much as to her artistic commitment.
