Boat to Row

Are a collective of instrument swapping, harmony sharing friends from the Midlands; meandering through all that life and love have to offer. From its beginnings as a solo university project Boat to Row has evolved into a band confident with delivering intelligent, intricate folk.

Beginning with the 2010 tape only release Crossroads to the recent multi format Grassmarket EP Boat to Row have been playing a rigorous schedule of shows that have included sharing stages with Slow Club, Willy Mason and Johnny Flynn. Gaining a reputation for delivering an infectious, uplifting set Boat to Row will be taking this on tour with Dog is Dead and to many festivals this summer including 2000 Trees, Truck and Larmer Tree.

Optimism, dust, old lace and battles, Troubadour Rose rises in a breath of fresh air.

Stunning vocal delivery and equisite somg-writing, remeniscent of a young Stevie Nicks. Expect bold melodies and sumptuous harmonies offset with banjo and mandolin hooks, keleidoscopic violins and an edge of the un-hinged.

With their single ‘Labour of Love’ being released this Summer from the soundtrack of Film London’s indie romance ‘strawberry Fields’ Troubadour Rose are a band certainly to keep both eyes on.

Green Diesel

Green Diesel began irritating the neighbours in 2009 and have consistently torn Kentish venues apart with their energetic take on folk-rock. Inspired by the darker side of English folk, the band mix influences from across the musical spectrum and bring them to bear on tales of doomed Kentish ghost ships, cuckolded noblemen and more besides.

Ruth Bewsey

If summerfolk were a real genre, Ruth Bewsey would be the queen of it. Blending the beautiful stylings of Tristan Prettyman, Imogen Heap and KT Tunstall to create an arresting and enchanting piece of soft folky excellence, a single fragile voice over upbeat plucked guitar riffs is all Bewsey needs to absorb her audience.

Ruths voice is not a common occurrence and should be for that reason adored for its purity and power, for its ability to deliver a lyric so poignantly it can make your heart swell inside your chest.

With an ever-growing fan base, Ruths rare talent shines through and will no doubt lead her to great things.
